(Milwaukee,WI)-Rockwell Automation has added new connector capabilities to its Rockwell Software RS PMX MES software to help life sciences companies exchange data between enterprise resource planning (ERP) and other plant-floor applications. The enhanced functionality helps provide connectivity between RS PMX MES and the company’s FactoryTalk Integrator, enabling manufacturers to transmit data to or from multiple plant or business applications such as ERP, document management systems and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
Previously, connectivity between RS PMX MES software and other plant systems required point-to-point configuration schemes that required more integration effort. With connectivity to FactoryTalk Integrator, manufacturers can help to integrate their plant-floor applications with higher-level business systems for more responsive and informed decision-making.
FactoryTalk Integrator helps feed common types of information required by an MES system, such as work orders, schedules or recipes, directly from ERP systems. With its robust and expandable architecture, manufacturers can get data to or from multiple plant systems, whether they are Rockwell Automation-based or other systems. Unlike point-to-point solutions, with FactoryTalk Integrator, users can share data with many applications or destinations at the same time.
FactoryTalk Integrator helps simplify integration with corporate IT systems by supporting open industry communications (such as XML, BSMML and J2EE) and linkages to commonly used ERP applications like SAP, Oracle and PeopleSoft. FactoryTalk Integrator supports the FactoryTalk Services Platform, which leverages IT assets and the latest standards for increased business flexibility and faster deployment.
