Spartan Scientific is offering its series 4290 direct-acting stackable solenoid valve that eliminates the need to machine and inventory multiple manifolds.
The series 4290, used in water-related applications, improves on Spartan’s 3923 solenoid valve series with a larger body made of polyvinyl chloride material that is available in single units or stacks. The larger PVC body provides increased flow and higher pressure ratings than the series 3923 and has a higher resistance to chemicals in various applications.
Instead of having to machine and inventory multiple-sized manifolds, companies now have the flexibility of buying the series 4290 in single units and building whatever size manifold they need.
“Each individual valve on the manifold is interchangeable so it gives you the cost savings of not having a lot of inventory of various sized manifolds,” said Todd Harmon, Spartan Scientific vice president. It also saves money for product distributors, allowing them to stock one valve unit and sell multiple configurations of that product.
The valve also has a manual override. If there’s no power to the valve, the problem can be fixed by inserting a screwdriver into a slot to open the valve.
Series 4290 is best suited for water processing equipment and compressed air systems as well as for use in the agriculture industry including marijuana growing and fertilizer production. The valve is utilized for electrical control of air, caustics, inert gases, oil and water.
