SKF® spherical roller bearings offer a self-aligning capability to compensate for misalignment between shaft and housing or shaft deflection without increasing friction or reducing bearing life. An optimized internal design further enables these bearings to accommodate heavy radial loads and axial loads in both directions.
These bearings are particularly advantageous in industries such as paper, metals processing, mining, marine, power generation and oil exploration that utilize large vertical electric motors, gearboxes, pumps, fans and blowers, machine tools, and other machinery performing at high temperatures, high combined loads, and subject to misalignments.
Two rows of patented self-guiding rollers with a common sphered raceway in the outer ring serve to reduce friction, minimize heat generation, and contribute to longer bearing life. High-strength, dimensionally stable bearing rings promote durability and allow for excellent performance in applications running at high temperatures. Cages are made from steel or optional machined brass (for larger bearing sizes).
These bearings are available with cylindrical or tapered bores in diameter sizes ranging from 20mm to 1800mm (0.7874 in. to 70.8661 in.). Boundary dimensions conform to ISO 15:1998.
Variations include sealed types greased-for-life and virtually maintenance free; specialized styles intended for vibrating screens and high-precision printing presses; and advanced Explorer class bearings benefiting from unique design, material, and manufacturing-process innovations yielding greatly extended operational performance Customized solutions can be developed to satisfy particular application requirements.
