Voice coil motor with internal shaft and bearing features high continuous force

Moticont has added a new high-force voice coil motor to its GVCM family of voice coil motors with an internal shaft and bearing. The new GVCM-095-089-03 Linear Voice Coil Motor (also known as linear dc motor) features a continuous force of 63.9 lb (284.1 N) and 202.0 lb (898.4 N) of peak force at a 10% duty cycle. Guided by a long-life plain bearing that can allow side loads up to 3 lb (13.5 N), the precision ground 0.236 in. (6.0 mm) diameter shaft with an internal thread has a stroke length of 0.5 in. (12.7 mm). The quiet, efficient, smooth, cog-free motion of this low-inertia brushless motor is well-suited for a range of applications including clamping, work holding, sorting equipment, assembly, medical devices, antenna positioning, testing, slide actuators, shutters, doors, valve actuation, wafer handling, and optical focusing.

This new voice coil actuator features: High speed, high acceleration/deceleration, zero backlash, high accuracy, high repeatability, and a high force to size in either direction, in a housing measuring just 3.75 in. (95.3 mm) dia. x 3.5 in. (88.9 mm) long. The housing and coil ends of the motor have threaded mounting holes in the housing and coil ends for easy integration into new and existing applications.

If there is a need for a smaller or larger diameter motor, one with longer stroke, or more force, there are currently seven series of Moticont’s expanding line of GVCM motors based on diameter of the motor, and models based on length of stroke and/or force to select from with additional motors being added to select from.
