Bosch’s Rexroth Pneumatics division sometimes seemed to stick out like a sore thumb to me … although the company tried to integrate the Lexington, Ky.-based division into the master plan, there were times where it seemed lost amidst the company’s myriad industrial and mobile hydraulic solutions. So it wasn’t altogether surprising when the company sold the business late last year to Triton, an investor group tied to Germany and Scandinavia.
But I am surprised to hear that the group has already re-launched itself as Aventics GmbH, as the inside story I’d heard was that the group could continue to use the Rexroth name for a few years—although with some odd legal requirements, such as having to use it in black and not the traditional Rexroth red. Still, this move is probably a good step forward for both the new kid on the block and the old parent.
Aventics will have its global headquarters in Laatzen, Germany—located not far from Hanover—while the U.S. operations will remain headquartered in Lexington. The Canadian head office will also remain in Burlington, Ontario. The company has 2,100 employees worldwide.
“The new name combines the terms of advantage, invention, and pneumatics, and therefore describes what we are aiming for: our customers will get added value with our innovative products, system solutions, and services,” said Dr. Alexander Lawrence (seen at left), one of three members of the board.
Under the new name, the manufacturer of pneumatics components and systems says it will further expand its market position—as well as address industries that the company has not focused on previously across the globe.
“We are connecting the best of two worlds in Aventics, a long tradition and the solid expertise of our employees meets the flexibility of a medium-sized company,” said Lawrence.
The company’s new site is at www.aventics.com/us.
