With the all-new SPH series inline planetary gearbox, GAM Gear (www.gamweb.com) provides a new level of precision and power to its extensive portfolio of gear technology which includes spiral bevel, hypoid, worm and spur.
Featuring helical gearing, the inline planetary gearbox is specifically designed for cyclic and dynamic motion control applications. It can be optimized for continuous duty and high speed applications as well. Cut at an ideal angle, the SPH gear helps minimize axial forces that are commonly associated with helical gearing. It is subsequently ground for improved accuracy and smoothness as well as reduced noise levels. Wider gear teeth permit higher permissible torques relative to the frame size, while the heavy duty taper roller bearings help achieve large loading capabilities.
“Our customers have been looking for a high precision gearbox that can help maximize their machine performance,” noted Craig van den Avont, President of GAM Gear.
“Helical gearing is a necessity as these applications require a combination of high accuracies, efficiencies, speeds, and torques. The SPH delivers.”
With ratios up to 100:1, Gam Gear’s SPH series inline planetary gearbox is offered in six different frame sizes that range between 50 mm and 180 mm. It is also available in various output configurations for simple machine integration including hollow with housing, shaft (smooth or keyed) and integrated coupling. Much like other GAM products, the SPH series can be revised or completely customized to meet the specific demands of the customers.
