Liquid level sensors come with ½ in. NPT male conduit fittings before the cable interface for those who prefer to install conduit over a cable. These fittings benefit sensors exposed to a liquid not compatible with the material. For installations where the level sensor is threaded into a tank, the conduit protects the cable from the work environment.
AST4500, AST4510, and AST4520 level sensors are Class I Division 1 intrinsically safe, Groups C and D when installed with a barrier as well as ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) certified. This allows the sensors to be used in remote monitoring and telemetry applications where liquids and gases are in hazardous environments. Pressure ranges are available as low as 0-1 PSI (27.68 inches water column). Voltage output signals are typically chosen for applications with low power and low current consumption, whereas 4-20 mA is used for long distance transmissions.
