New Field Junction Boxes from Pepperl+Fuchs

By Design World Staff | March 7, 2007

TWINSBURG, OH – Pepperl+Fuchs introduces a new family of Field Junction Box solutions for fieldbus installations. Field Junction Boxes facilitate quick and easy mounting of Pepperl+Fuchs Segment Protector and Field Barrier fieldbus wiring components, terminators, spur connectors, and surge protection devices. Standard Field Junction Box designs reduce engineering costs and satisfy the requirements of most applications. Custom engineered solutions are available upon request. The Field Junction Box product range is suitable for Zone2/Division 2, Zone 1/Division 1 intrinsically safe, and Zone 1 increased safety applications.

Field Junction Boxes arrive ready for field installation, with all necessary components installed, wired, and tested at the factory. This eliminates the ‘rats nest’ of cables within the enclosure commonly associated with ‘jumping’ between all positive and all negative wires. All interconnect wires are laid in parallel and clearly labeled, making it easy for the user to find a spur short circuit.

Field Junction Boxes come pre-drilled and pre-assembled for one segment having trunk-in, trunk-out and 4, 6, or 8 spur connections; one trunk and 10 or 12 spur connections; or two segments having one multicore trunk connection and 16, 20 or 24 spur connections.

Field Junction Box enclosures are available in powder-coated steel, carbon loaded polyester, and polished stainless steel; and offer ample space for cable terminations and a wide selection of cable gland types. Custom gland and terminations are available upon request for unique applications and installations. Screw or spring terminations, knife-edge disconnect systems, spur connectors, and surge protection devices enable a level of customization for each particular installation without having to look to a completely custom solution.
