Company planning and development stays the course in 2020.

061520-nord-maxxdrive-xtNORD´s new condition monitoring solution records drive and status data periodically or continuously to optimize the operational safety and efficiency of machines and plants.

In the 2019 financial year, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS achieved solid, targeted growth reflecting in a sales increase of $837 million. Investments in locations and logistics were a key factor in this growth. For 2020, all development activities and investments continue as planned so that NORD remains a strong partner in the drive technology sector. NORD´s supply chain is also well positioned to continue serving customers with little or no disruption during the coronavirus pandemic.

Currently, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS is extending the industrial gear unit assembly and logistics areas as well as the paint department at the Waunakee, USA site by over 85,000 sq. ft. and is expanding its office capacity in Suzhou, China by 25,800 sq. ft. In addition, production was considerably extended with the completion of a new 107,600 sq. ft. motor factory in Wiechlice, Poland. Only 25 miles away, at the Nowa Sól plant, an expansion of 108,000 sq. ft. is currently in progress to increase the production, assembly, and logistics areas. In 2021, NORD will also be building an automated small parts warehouse, packing stations, a logistics building, and associated goods receipt and goods issue areas at the Bargteheide, Germany site.

Innovations and Portfolio Extensions
Last year, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS successfully launched a wide range of drive technology innovations and continues to do so in 2020. By competitively expanding its product portfolio, important forward-thinking topics have been undertaken including Industry 4.0, energy efficiency, and diversification of drive solutions. The new NORDAC PRO SK 500P variable frequency drive represents a milestone in frequency inverter innovation, offering ultimate functionality, connectivity, and modularity. In addition to improved characteristics and performance features, this new inverter generation uses the proven NORDAC parameter structure and is physically and functionally backward compatible.

High-efficiency on All Levels
New, IE5+ ultra-premium efficiency motors are planned for US release in late 2020. These synchronous motors have significantly higher energy efficiency than their predecessors and increase the performance range of NORD´s electric motors. Due to its constant efficiency in all operating areas, it is particularly suitable for use in intralogistics and for reducing the overall number of variants. The NORDCON APP is of interest to all users of drive technology. For the first time, this app provides a mobile commissioning and service solution for all NORD drives — speeding up installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. In the heavy-duty sector, MAXXDRIVE industrial gear units have added the new MAXXDRIVE XT, optimizing the proven modular system for applications where higher thermal gearbox ratings are required.

Concepts for Condition Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance complete the line expansion. With this solution, NORD implements economical solutions to detect an undesirable operating status at an early stage and avoid unscheduled downtimes both for small geared motors and large industrial gear units.

A Reliable Partner in Drive Technology
For more than 55 years, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS has been a reliable partner for many commercial and industrial markets. As a family-owned and operated company, NORD can constantly invest in the development of new, innovative drive technology products and services. Engineers in 36 countries advise customers from more than 100 industries while reliable manufacturing and logistics capacities are located in Germany, Europe, Asia, and North America. NORD also has worldwide assembly and service locations to provide local solutions, fast delivery times, and reliable service.

NORD manufactures a wide selection of gearboxes, electric motors, and drive electronics in various sizes and configurations for companies in intralogistics, food and beverage, airport baggage handling, grain, and bulk material handling, and other demanding markets. The modular design offers unlimited versatility with more than 20,000,000 combinations of custom gear motors and speed reducers – in-line or right-angle, mounted by foot or flange, featuring solid or hollow shafts – to give customers complete freedom to specify a drive solution that´s perfect for the job.
