U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker presented NOSHOK, Inc. with the President Award for Exports yesterday, at a ceremony held in Washington, D.C. The âEâ Awards are the highest recognition any U.S. entity may receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports.
We are extremely honored to receive the Award, said Jeff Scott, President of NOSHOK, Inc. âNOSHOK has vastly expanded our global market presence to regions including Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, Australia and Asia. NOSHOK provides multi-lingual sales and customer support, as well as bilingual product catalogs and marketing materials. We are committed to continued mutual growth with our international partners.â
NOSHOK has demonstrated a sustained commitment to export expansion. The Awards Committee was very impressed with NOSHOK dedication to developing customized products for its international customers. The companyâs creativity in overcoming barriers to trade was also particularly impressive. NOSHOK achievements have undoubtedly contributed to national export expansion efforts that support the U.S. economy and create American jobs,â said Secretary Pritzker in her congratulatory letter to the company announcing its selection as an award recipient.
The President Award winners are fantastic American businesses and organizations that have played a crucial role in strengthening and growing our economy through increased U.S. exports, said Secretary Pritzker. By selling Made-in-America goods and services internationally, U.S. business can grow faster, hire more employees, pay higher wages, and help spread American ideas, innovation and values. Congratulations to NOSHOK for its export achievement, which helps the local community, NOSHOK and the nation remain competitive in the global marketplace.
NOSHOK, Inc., located in Berea, Ohio, is a global supplier of pressure & level, temperature and force measurement instrumentation, along with patented needle and manifold valves to a wide variety of industries including oil & gas, fluid power, power generation, general industrial, automation, chemical processing, manufacturing, water & wastewater, food & beverage and marine.
U.S. exports of goods and services hit an all-time record of $2.3 trillion in 2013. Nationally, jobs supported by exports reached more than 11 million last year, up 1.6 million since 2009. Launched earlier this month, NEI/Next, a new phase of President Obamaâs National Export Initiative, works to boost economic growth and support additional American jobs by assisting more U.S. companies of all sizes in exporting to more markets across the globe.
President Kennedy revived the World War II symbol of excellence to honor and provide recognition to Americaâs exporters. The âEâ Award Program was established by Executive Order 10978 on December 5, 1961. Four years of successive export growth and an applicant demonstration of an innovative international marketing plan that led to the increase in exports is a significant factor in making the award.
U.S. companies are nominated for the Award for Exports through the Department of Commerceâs U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service office network, located within the Departmentâs International Trade Administration, which has offices in 108 U.S. cities and more than 70 countries to help U.S. exporters.
A total of 65 U.S. companies were presented with the President Award this year.
