E.H. Wachs (www.ehwachs.com) has unveiled a highly efficient Servo Drive Electric system (SDE) that eliminates the need for an intermediate hydraulic or air power source while supplying power to either the EP424 end prep machine or the Wachs Low Clearance Split Frame (LCSF).
Equipped with a power control cabinet, the high-torque SDE also features an electric drive 3.8 kW (5 hp) motor and a remote control pendant. It is available in three electric configurations – 200-240 V, 380-480 V and 575 V.
Unlike traditional pneumatic or hydraulic drives, the electric servo drive motor offers greater power and smooth operation. In addition, the compact and portable SDE is also offered in configurations ideal for use with the EP424 or the LCSF.
Meanwhile, its UL 508A labeled power control cabinet integrates a Baldor Flex Drive System that features a digital signal processor (DSP) to regulate the demand of power to the motor. This enables the SDE to deliver precise RPM control and optimal torque.
Aside from the flexibility provided by its programmable controller, the electric servo drive motor are also fitted with safety features, which includes an OSHA approved lock out tag out point, an external emergency shut-off button and a remote operation pendant.
With its remote start/stop and speed control, the control pendant effectively allows users to remotely control the equipment as it comes with a 20 ft cable. For easy portability to any work site, the SDE’s durable steel cabinet has been cart-mounted.
