Canadian networking software company BLiNQ Networks said it will be able to offer a solution for shared spectrum in the 3.5 GHz band under a recent agreement with Federated Wireless.
“We see the tremendous potential that shared spectrum holds for WISPs and MSOs to cost-effectively expand their wireless coverage,” BLiNQ Business Development and Product Management VP Patrick Buthmann said in a statement.
BLiNQ said its massive MIMO, carrier aggregation and beamforming capabilities offer the industry’s leading cost-per-gigabit air capacity, and that Federated’s spectrum controller would enable it to utilize those technologies in the CBRS band.
The companies said their partnership would, in turn, enable wireless providers to expand internet coverage in suburban and rural areas using fixed wireless technology, as well as support cable operators who are “implementing new mobile network strategies.”
“As two nimble companies working together, we’ll be able to quickly address requirements and the changing landscape as the CBRS market and path to 5G unfold over the next few years,” said Federated Wireless President and CEO Iyad Tarazi.
