ELASTOCON BROADENS LINE OF CLEAR TPE OFFERINGS

By Garrett Harmon | May 28, 2014

Share

Elastocon TPE Technologies, Inc., a compounder and supplier of numerous lines of soft thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs), has expanded its clear (CLR Series) to include several new, softer grades (Shore 15 – 40 A). These new grades have been formulated for consumer goods and applications requiring clarity, a soft touch and U.V. stability. Specifically, the 4 new CLR grades are offered in Shore A hardnesses of 15, 20, 30, 35 and 40.

This plasticizer-free TPE series of additions provide non-blooming high strength properties as well as a tactile surface finish. They are FDA compliant and give designers and molders an excellent alternative to silicone and PVC, making them ideally suited for applications including medical products and children’s toys. Other suggested applications for the new odorless TPEs include countertop electronics, appliances, furniture and desk accessories (protective feet and pads) as well as protective covers for consumer electronic products. The company reports that these news grades, along with the others in the CLR series, can be overmolded onto polypropylene.
All grades require no drying and are easy to process.
Elastocon® offers high performance TPE solutions that are innovative and robust, designed to meet the toughest requirements of modern TPE designs.

They are offered in seven product families: unfilled, filled, super clear, TPOs, oil free for medical use, flame retardant and special colorable ESD formulations.
