LEMO has launched a new connector for interconnection of HD video cameras in professional broadcast
industry.
The new hybrid connector—called 3K.93C.Y series—is fully compatible with existing SMPTE and ARIB
standard. It has fewer components, allowing easy assembly and reducing the termination costs for the hybrid fiber optic connector.
This new product has been engineered to be more tolerant of operator variations and therefore performance
can be more easily optimized during the termination process. It includes a new contact called the FS fiber
contact. In addition, the new insulator is made in two sections and the sideways insertion of the optical
contacts prevent any push-back on the optical contacts. No more optical extractor is required to remove
these contacts. Finally, the connector can be easily identified with its new shell design and fiber optic contact
shape.
