Leak-free Sealing System for Slurry Pumps

Palmyra, N.Y. — A leak-free, no-dilution sealing system for
slurry pumps is now available from Garlock Sealing Technologies. The
HYDRA-JUST(TM) system offers pump manufacturers a more cost-effective
way to enhance the performance of their equipment and offer their customers
increased productivity through higher reliability.

A rotary shaft sealing system, HYDRA-JUST(TM) forms a bearing relationship
with the surface of the shaft in the seal chamber, preventing process media
from migrating into the stuffing box. This unique, patent-pending, radial
bearing-to-face seal is less expensive than conventional mechanical seals,
especially in pumps with large shaft diameters. In addition, its cool, dry,
no-dilution operation significantly reduces water consumption. A slurry pump
that operates with greater reliability and uses 60 times less water than one
with a mechanical seal can help pump manufacturers differentiate their
product in a highly competitive market. These performance enhancements do
not come at the expense of pump efficiency in that the Hydra-Just operates
with slightly less drag than a comparably sized, balanced mechanical seal.

HYDRA-JUST(TM) can withstand temperatures up to 500oF (260 oC), pH
range of 0-14 (except strong oxidizers), stuffing box pressures up to 500
psi (36 bar), and shaft speeds of 4,000-plus fpm (20 m/s).
