MIDDLETOWN, PA – Phoenix Contact's new EC-E electronic circuit breakers selectively protect load circuits connected to a 24 V DC power supply. The EC-E combines active electronic current limiting for short-circuit conditions and overload shutdown, ensuring that the circuit breaker responds to fault conditions faster than the power supply.
Rated for both hazardous and non-hazardous environments, the EC-E has a current limitation of 1.3 to 1.8 times the rated current of the circuit protector. It is possible to switch on capacitive loads of up to 20,000 µF. The circuit breaker is disconnected only when an overload or short circuit occurs. The operator can turn the EC-E on or off manually using the integrated slide switch, or remotely reset the breaker via an input signal.
The EC-E series comes in three versions:
–the EC-E1 has an N/O signal contact
–the EC-E4 has an N/C signal contact
–the EC-E has reset capability and status output.
All have LED indication and are rated for current ranges from 0.5 A through 12 A.
