Rogers Corporation Receives Awards from Chinese Government

Rogers, CT – Rogers Corporation has received two award honors recently from the Chinese government.

The first award, Level A Credit Company for Labor Security, was given to Rogers for its labor compliance and positive management of its employees. The award is based on Rogers having met or exceeded labor compliance during the last two years, including support of the local Chinese labor union and the high audit scores Rogers received related to labor compliance audits. Only 132 companies of the 17,000 doing business in the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) received the Level A award. Suzhou Industrial Park is a planned industrial, commercial and residential community where thousands of companies, including many of the largest corporations in the world, have established facilities.

The Level A recognition permits award winners to extend labor-related permits by one year and to use a streamlined method for future labor audits, which reduces the frequency of audits. The Level A award also allows recipient companies to market this recognition, which can be used to attract high caliber employees.

The second award, Jiangsu Provincial May 1, 2010 Honorary Labor Medal, was given to Rogers’ Vice President of Asia, Michael Sehnert, by the Jiangsu Labor Union Bureau for outstanding performance, achievement and contribution to society in Jiangsu Province. Nomination of Mr. Sehnert was made by the Suzhou Industrial Park where Rogers’ main campus in China is located.

“These awards mean a great deal to Rogers Corporation and we are sincerely thankful for the recognition they afford us,” commented Robert D. Wachob, Rogers President and CEO. “They express the feelings of our Chinese hosts that Rogers and its employees and management are viewed positively and in very good standing by the Suzhou Industrial Park, the local government and the Jiangsu provincial government. Forging an enduring presence and partnering with local businesses, and communities has always been the path to success for global companies operating in China. This has certainly been the case with Rogers Corporation. In fact, our modern factory campus in Suzhou recently won our internal award for best safety performance among all Rogers’ worldwide factories, and is recognized as a leader in safety and environmental performance in SIP as well ”

Rogers established its initial presence in the giant Suzhou Industrial Park, today a major manufacturing and logistics hub, in 2003 with a manufacturing facility, Rogers Technologies Suzhou, a wholly owned foreign enterprise of Rogers Corporation. From its Suzhou facility, Rogers manufactures all of its core products and is able to provide local, responsive service to its customers throughout the region.

Rogers has developed close working relationships over the years with the local government and associated business and labor organizations, and Rogers has hired local nationals to help staff both its manufacturing and sales offices in China. Suzhou, in Jiangsu Province, has become a vital strategic location for the Company, enabling its business presence in China and throughout Asia.

Since 2003 Rogers has grown significantly in China and elsewhere in Asia. It currently maintains sales offices in Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore, as well as a manufacturing facility in South Korea. The Company also operates a joint venture in China with INOAC Corporation.
