VOS300 Series Vision Sensors

TWINSBURG, OH — Pepperl+Fuchs introduces VOS300 Series Vision Sensors. The multi-purpose VOS300 combines a camera, illumination, digital outputs, process data and five powerful evaluation methods into a single, rugged sensor housing. The result is an out-of-the-box vision sensing solution that is easily configured without programming knowledge and operated without the need for detailed image processing experience. The VOS300 delivers advanced functionality in any number of complex inspection applications where traditional photoelectric sensors are unsuitable for use.

Two versions are available. The VOS301 can check a single feature of the target object, such as a drink box to make certain the straw is glued in place. The VOS310 can check up to five unique features, with checks logically linked together to facilitate detection of the complete presence of several details in a particular application. For example, in a drink box application the VOS310 could be used to determine if the straw is glued onto the box, the tamper-proof seal is in place, the bar code is printed, the package is labeled correctly and whether or not the package is closed.

VOS300 vision sensors act like a simple sensor with a single discrete output indicating general “pass/fail” status. Additional data can be read from the sensor via the Ethernet connection to determine the pass or fail condition of each feature check. They provide a 100mm sensing range when using internal illumination, and a 500mm sensing range when using external illumination, with 640 x 480 resolution. The “field of view” at 500mm is 135mmx100mm, and objects within this field can be detected regardless of orientation (rotation). VOS300 vision sensors are configured without complex programming language via Ethernet using simple VOS3-Config software, and operate without a PC during automatic operation.
