WAGO MCS-MINI MultiConnection System

By Design World Staff | June 22, 2012

WAGO Corporation’s 2734 Series MCS-MINI MultiConnection System female connectors employ push-buttons to streamline terminations. Aimed at compact electronics, 2734 Series’ high-visibility, contrasting push-buttons (orange on white or white on orange) simplify handling of all conductors AWG 24–14. Beyond obvious, hands-free operation, they also provide PUSH WIRE® termination of solid and ferruled, fine-stranded conductors. This is ideal for field-wired applications such as trackside signaling and commercial inverters.

Providing wire-to-board, wire-to-wire, board-to-board and board-to-wire connections, MCS-MINI is rated 300V/10A (UL/CSA) and is 100% protected from mismating. To suite diverse electronics, MCS-MINI spans from 2–24 poles and is offered with pin spacings of 3.5 or 3.81mm. Additional conveniences include coding fingers for customization and availability of housings equipped with locking levers or flanges for panel mounting.

2734 Series utilizes CAGE CLAMP®S Spring Pressure Connection Technology for vibration-proof and maintenance-free terminations. All MCS-MINI models carry integrated test ports for general testing/troubleshooting.

Signaling for Safety:
Compact dimensions and push-button terminations drove a mass-transit OEM to specify 2734 Series for safety-critical railroad signal crossing recorders. MCS-MINI accommodated up to 104 inputs/outputs for the OEM’s compact space. Push-button operation ensured correct terminations — PUSH WIRE® terminations further expedited install. 2734 Series also fulfilled American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA®) mandates for using CAGE CLAMP® within Wiring Signal Apparatuses (AREMA® C&S Manual Part 14.1.2).
