Pluto’s moons Nix and Hydra are irregularly shaped, New Horizons revealed. New data about the small satellites shows their potato-shaped outlines in photographs taken from hundreds of thousands of miles away. Another new NASA photo is also making headlines: Earth as seen from the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) is a beautiful blue vista. This is the first image from the DSCOVR satellite, which will be sending more over the coming months.
What about NASA’s next manned missions? A NASA-funded independent study puts says that humans could visit the Moon for about $10 billion in the next five to seven years using the two competing commercial space providers as it does today.

NASA camera takes ‘blue marble’ photo of Earth from 1 million miles away
A satellite designed to help warn people of space weather hazards has just sent back its first photo of the full sunlit side of the planet shining like a blue marble in the blackness of space. The Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR), which launched to space in February, is tasked with checking out the space weather environment in Earth’s neighborhood …
