In an effort to expand its ability to solve customer challenges in demanding packaging applications, Emerson recently acquired AVENTICS — a leading manufacturer of smart pneumatic components and systems. The move strengthens Emerson’s capabilities in packaging and other key discrete and hybrid automation markets. By creating one of the broadest portfolios of fluid control and pneumatic devices on the market, it also enhances Emerson’s ability to offer unmatched reliability and simple pneumatic motion control solutions to help machine builders improve performance. More after the jump.

Acquisition strengthens Emerson’s fluid control and pneumatic capabilities in packaging — enabling customers to reduce product timelines and maximize profitability.

The acquisition expands Emerson’s already robust fluid control offering, which applies industry expertise and clever solutions to customers’ unique business challenges today and tomorrow. AVENTICS pneumatic technology is critical to packaging machines that feature high-speed, point-to-point movement. Small, lightweight and highly flexible, devices optimize compressed air performance—minimizing contaminants, reducing food product perishability and enhancing safety. Not only do these features allow packaging machines to use pneumatics more efficiently, but they enable packaging OEMs and machine builders to better adapt to and satisfy market needs.

AVENTICS’ industry experts will also play a key role in enabling Emerson to solve a broader set of challenges across the entire manufacturing operation—removing complexity, reducing project timelines, increasing availability and lowering total cost of ownership. AVENTICS brings a leading portfolio of smart pneumatic technologies that enables Industry 4.0 through connectivity and analytics that are ready for tomorrow’s digitized operations. These technologies complement Emerson’s leadership in improving plant performance through digitization, pervasive sensing and asset health monitoring.

“With the acquisition of AVENTICS, Emerson now offers the broadest portfolio of fluid control and pneumatic products and solutions in the industry,” said Nick Buccheri of Emerson. “We are able to offer the customers a single partner to work with across the entire plant to help solve their greatest challenges.”

With central offices in Laatzen, Germany, AVENTICS has approximately 2,100 employees worldwide, five manufacturing locations and sales of $425 million (2017). The acquisition closed in July 2018.
