Pipe Clamp Sensor from Measurement Specialties

By Patrick Curran | May 21, 2009

Dayton OH – Measurement Specialties manufactures pipe clamp temperature sensors which provide fast and accurate measurement of temperatures from -40° C to 105° C. Designed to fit 23.5 mm (industry standard ¾”) diameter pipe, the assembly consists of a thermistor which is mounted in a brass housing with a radius contact for optimum thermal response. An easily field-mounted clamp provides a tight fit to the pipe without the need for additional fastening. The thermistor is potted in a Delrin housing with epoxy resin, making it suitable for high humidity and high moisture environments — including refrigeration, central heating systems, gas combi boilers and domestic showers, as well as for use on solar collectors.

Typical response time in application is less than 3 seconds — models are available in a range of R/T curves. Tolerance at +25° C is 2%, though custom tolerances are available upon request.

These RoHS compliant Pipe Clamp Temperature Sensors have been developed as a solution for a wide range of demanding HVAC and Refrigeration applications. In addition to the standard units described here an don thei web site, www.meas-spec.com, Measurement Specialties can customize these versatile pipe clamp temperature sensors to suit any application in terms of tolerances, temperature ranges, response times, and electrical resistance.

The Temperature Products Group of Measurement Specialties (MEAS) was created by the combination of BetaTHERM Sensors, YSI Temperature, HL Planar and most recently Atexis. Today they manufacture temperature components, probes and modules for virtually any application or industry.
