On Wednesday, Elon Musk revealed a single image of a SpaceX spacesuit designed to take astronauts to Mars. The SpaceX CEO has big ideas about colonizing Mars, and the suit is part of his vision for a Mars mission planned for within the next decade.
Musk hired an actual superhero costume designer to create the aesthetic for the suit, which was then “reverse engineered” to be functional. Like the designs submitted as NASA goes through the process of making a next-generation spacesuit, it’s plainer and less puffy than current extra-vehicular (EVA) suits.
