Acromag’s ST130 Series temperature transmitters recently received ATEX approval for use in explosive atmospheres. These thermocouple and RTD transmitters are USB-configured, loop-powered and provide a proportional 4-20mA output. The official ATEX certification is Ex II 3 G Ex nA IIC T4 Gc -40°C ≤ Ta ≤ +80°C (explosion-protected for Category 3G, Group II, Zone 2 gas atmospheres; non-incendive). ST130 temperature transmitters also carry CE and UL/cUL Class 1 Division 2 Zone 2 approvals.
ST130 transmitters mount in compact DIN Form B connection/sensor heads commonly used in thermowell applications for sensing temperature or when a protective enclosure is required. Optionally, a DIN-rail adapter may be purchased for mounting on T-type or G-type rails. For ATEX Zone 2 applications, the transmitter must be installed in an ATEX-certified enclosure with a minimum ingress protection rating of at least IP54.
ST130 transmitters are configured via USB cable with free Windows software and offer many high-performance features. These transmitters provide sensor excitation and perform advanced signal linearization, lead-wire compensation, and sensor fault detection functions. Units are very stable with nearly drift-free accuracy across wide ambient temperature changes and are highly resistant to RFI, EMI, ESD, and EFT effects. ST133 thermocouple input models additionally provide high-voltage isolation.
