Positioning components get lighter and smaller
Space and weight on many drones come at a premium. That’s one reason many exhibitor trumpeted products that took up little space and didn’t do much to the payload budget. An example is the E4T miniature optical kit encoder from US Digital, with its housing seen here next to a dime to show relative scale. Position encoders like the E4T often provide position feedback for the servos controlling active surfaces on wings, fins, and rotors. In particular, the E4T provides quadrature digital feedback at up to 100 kHz thanks to opto-asic sensor technology.
