On, Wisconsin to 3D printing
Engineering students at the University of Wisconsin- Madison not only got to know 3D printing, they also got familiar with remote I/O systems by working on this 3D printer that sports B&R Industrial Automation Corp. gear. Students instrumented the printer with a B&R X20 I/O system, visible on the back view of the printer, and used MAPP modular function blocks to program printer operations through a PP500 controller. The combo printer and I/O system is an ongoing project.
